Cunningham’s New TV Ad Is Trying To Fool Voters

RALEIGH, NC-- Cal Cunningham released a new ad yesterday saying he’ll “work with both parties when it’s right, and I’ll stand up to my own party when they’re wrong,” but Cunningham hasn't provided one example during this campaign of how he would work across the aisle. In fact, he’s spent his entire race embracing extreme liberal policies and criticizing President Trump.

“Given the long-running list of lies Cal Cunningham has told this campaign, North Carolinians have no reason to believe that he would be anything but a rubber-stamp for Chuck Schumer’s job-killing agenda, and his new ad claiming that he would work in a bipartisan manner is just plain false,” said NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton. “The people of North Carolina remember the extreme liberal positions Cunningham took during the Democratic primary and a fancy new campaign ad won’t change the fact that Cunningham is as partisan as they come.”

When asked by WSOC-Charlotte in early March which issues he could work with Republicans on, Cunningham cited trade and immigration. During the primary, however, Cunningham called President Trump’s trade policies “reckless”  and refused to back the bipartisan USMCA, even when every North Carolina democrat voted for the deal. Cunningham also criticized Senator Tillis’ legislation to combat sanctuary cities and said he wants to “enable” them.

Here are some of the other far-left positions Cunningham has taken during his campaign:

  • Cunningham said that any allegations that he would not support the Green New Deal or Medicaid for All were “just not true.”

  • Cunningham said that killing the murderous Iranian terrorist Gen. Qassim Sulemaini made us less safe even though Sulemaini was a direct threat to our military members
