Carolina Conversations That Cal Cunningham Doesn't Want To Have

July 17, 2020
For Immediate Release

RALEIGH, NC --Since the Free Beacon revealed that Cal Cunningham’s company, WasteZero, received Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans while he criticized the program and then lied to cover it up, Cal Cunningham has been hiding from the media. This weekend, however, Cunningham is emerging from his windowless basement to participate in virtual events and to relaunch his Carolina Conversations tour, which is one of the rare times Cunningham is making himself accessible.

Considering this weekend may be one of the only times North Carolinians will have an opportunity to get answers from Cunningham, members of the media should consider asking him the following questions:

  1. Cunningham admitted to receiving compensation from WasteZero as late as March 31st. When was the last time they compensated him?

  2. How much has WasteZero compensated Cunningham since March 20th, the day he falsely claimed he left the company?

  3. If Cunningham believes he hasn't benefited from a PPP loan, why doesn't he ask WasteZero to turn over documents that would prove that to be true?

  4. Why would voters take Cunningham's word on this issue of this given he's already been caught lying about it?

After facing scrutiny for criticizing the PPP while his company received up to $2 million in loans, Cunningham lied to members of the media multiple times about his employment with WasteZero in a weak attempt to cover-up his hypocrisy. North Carolinians deserve an answer as to whether or not Cunningham financially benefited from a program he has spent the past few months attacking.
