RALEIGH, NC-- On Saturday night, the city of Raleigh once again experienced violent riots that damaged buildings, vandalized property and burned American flags. The destructive actions left North Carolinian's reeling, yet Cal Cunningham remained silent, refusing to condemn them.

Even Raleigh’s Democratic mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin called the weekend’s protests “wrong” and that the protest’s goal was “simply to cause chaos.”

NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton said, “The protests we’ve seen over the past few weeks in Raleigh have been anything but peaceful. Rather than condemning the destructive actions that occurred Saturday night like Senator Tillis and his own Democratic ally Mayor Baldwin did, Cal Cunningham was silent. North Carolinians should be alarmed that a candidate for the U.S. Senate is sitting idly by as rioters destroy our capital city. It’s clear that Cal Cunningham cannot be trusted to keep our communities safe.”

Since May, Cunningham has embraced the rioters we’ve seen across the state and country and has said he “joins the fight” of those who want to “abolish the police.” His silence on the destruction of property and targeted attacks on law enforcement is just another reason why he is unfit to keep North Carolinians out of harm’s way.
