Do Cal Jr. And Erica Smith Support Radical Xavier Becerra’s Nomination?

Raleigh, NC - As Cal Jr. (Jeff Jackson) and Radical Liberal Erica Smith are seeking to be the next U.S. Senator from North Carolina, the people of North Carolina deserve to know how they would vote on important issues if elected. President Joe Biden nominated California Attorney General Xavier Becerra for Secretary of Health and Human Services. Becerra's only background in healthcare is suing nuns for practicing their religion. Given the unprecedented scale of the current public health challenge, Biden’s decision to nominate a radical trial attorney, instead of a health care professional is indefensible.

Becerra is also far out of the mainstream on abortion and religious liberty. During his confirmation hearing, he signaled openness to force all US taxpayers to fund abortion and defended his past support of partial-birth abortion. Cal Jr. and Smith have remained eerily silent on Becerra’s nomination.

“If Cal Jr. or Smith want North Carolinians' votes, they owe it to the voters to shoot straight and tell us where they stand. Do they support the confirmation of a lockdown enforcer and abortion extremist lawyer instead of a doctor to lead the United States healthcare system during the greatest public health challenge of the modern age?,” said NCGOP Communications Director Tim Wigginton. “In addition to his lack of medical expertise, Becerra has consistently attacked Americans’ constitutional rights. Will Cal Jr. and radical liberal Erica Smith support the nomination in light of Becerra’s attacks on Americans’ constitutional right to worship?”
