Will Soon-To-Be-Former Chief Justice Beasley Continue to Drag Out the Inevitable?

For Immediate Release

Raleigh, NC - 99 out of 100 counties have completed their recount, and Chief Justice Elect Paul Newby has increased his margin of victory
to 457 votes. With only two counties outstanding, it is clear Newby will end the recount with a majority of votes as he did on election night and after the county canvas. The only question that remains is whether or not soon-to-be-former Chief Justice Beasley will accept the election results and concede.
“The votes have all been counted, and the recount is nearly complete. It is abundantly clear that Paul Newby will be sworn in as the next chief justice of North Carolina,” said NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton. “The only question that remains is whether or not Cheri Beasley will accept the results of the election and officially concede.”
