Cooper's Nursing Home Testing Failure Is Another Example Of How Cooper Is Not Doing His Part To Handle COVID

For Immediate Release
Raleigh NC- On Friday, Raleigh's News and Observer dropped a bombshell report revealing Governor Roy Cooper’s administration still has not tested every nursing home resident and staff member for COVID 19 more than six weeks after receiving federal guidance to do so. Vice President Mike Pence gave guidance to the nation's governors to test every nursing home resident on May 12. Cooper constantly claims that anyone who wants to get a COVID test can get one. However, Cooper has failed to provide testing to our most vulnerable populations.

“While nursing homes remain clusters for COVID cases and tragic deaths, Cooper completely failed to follow the federal guidelines to actually protect this vulnerable population," said NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton. "Over 60 percent of all the deaths from COVID 19 in North Carolina occur in nursing homes and long-term care facilities."

Like the rest of Cooper's COVID failure, he will likely attempt to hide by refusing to comply with North Carolina's public records laws. Currently, a coalition of media companies is suing Cooper and his administration to force them to comply with the law and release all the COVID data people need to stay safe. Congressman Greg Murphy M.D. recently released a press release highlighting North Carolina's testing plan's grave inadequacies
