President Trump's Visit To NC Highlights His Leadership and Cooper's Conspicuous Absence

Raleigh, NC - President Donald Trump’s visit to North Carolina today highlights his proactive leadership to defeat COVID-19. President Trump took bold action by closing entry from China, which even his opponent now admits was the right thing to do. The President activated the American private sector to provide substantial numbers of Ventilators, Personal Protective Equipment, and drove the United States to be the world leader in COVID-19 testing

Today’s visit from the President highlights one of the most important initiatives to date: Operation Warp Speed. The President launched Operation Warp Speed in order to unleash the American scientific community to find therapeutic and workable vaccines to defeat the virus.

“President Trump’s leadership is producing real results in the fight against COVID-19, which will help every North Carolinian,” said NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton. “President Trump’s strong leadership spotlights Governor Roy Cooper’s failure to lead and continual commitment to remain in his basement while people needlessly suffer.”

Governor Cooper, unlike President Trump, refuses to develop a proactive plan to address the COVID-19 crisis. Cooper still does not have a plan to conduct surveillance testing for nursing homes regularly; also, Cooper failed to keep up COVID-19 testing with the national average. Given Cooper’s failed leadership, no wonder he has remained hidden from the public for 146 days and refuses to hold press briefings that comply with First Amendment best practices.
