Cal Cunningham Has Some Explaining To Do…

For Immediate Release

Raleigh, NC-- After a startling report that Cal Cunningham’s company, WasteZero, got millions from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) while he criticized it, he has some additional questions to answer. Members of the media should ask Cunningham the following questions:

  1. Did PPP loans pay any of Cunningham’s $400,000 salary?

  2. If so, were the PPP loans the reason Cunningham was able to pay himself back for the hundreds of thousands of dollars he loaned his campaign?

  3. Will Cunningham release all of his financial records to prove that the PPP loans WasteZero received didn’t benefit him financially given the stock options he has with the company?

  4. Why would he allow his company to apply for a program that he believes “harms communities?”

  5. Why did Cunningham refuse to disclose the fact his company applied for and received a PPP loan at the same time he was doing interviews hypocritically attacking the program? Why was he not transparent with North Carolinians?

  6. Cunningham previously said the PPP left behind Black- and Latino-owned companies. Considering WasteZero’s executive team is predominantly white, does Cunningham think it was wrong for his company to have received PPP loans?
