Instead Of Debating In Western North Carolina, Cunningham Is Schmoozing With Out-Of-State Donors

Raleigh NC-  Back in January, Senator Thom Tillis challenged the winner of the Democratic primary to five general election debates, and Cal Cunningham responded ‘bring it on.’ However, after his liberal DC allies spent millions to drag him across the finish line in his race against Erica Smith, Cunningham has retreated to his “windowless basement.” While Tillis accepted a WLOS debate invitation to give mountain residents a first-hand look at the candidates in the Senate race, Cunningham declined the invitation. 

Now it's been revealed that instead of engaging in a face-to-face debate with Tillis this week, Cunningham is instead attending a virtual fundraiser with Virginia donors in the Washington, D.C area. 

“It's disappointing but not surprising that Cal Cunningham would rather schmooze with his liberal out-of-state donors instead of defending his failed record and agenda in front of the people of Western North Carolina,” said NCGOP Spokesman Tim Wigginton. “Mountain area voters won't forget the disrespect that Cunningham is showing them, and they will reject his tax-hiking, job-killing agenda in November."
