Cunningham Continues To Peddle Lie That He’s Not Taking Corporate PAC Money

Raleigh, NC--  In a new report from the Carteret County News-Times today, Cal Cunningham continued to double down on his lie that he is not accepting corporate PAC money, a claim WRAL’s Politifact already debunked as “mostly false” nine months ago. As the fact-checkers pointed out, Cunningham has accepted corporate donations funneled in through PACS, special interest groups, and corporate executives from the beginning of his campaign. 

“It’s disrespectful to the people of North Carolina that Cal Cunningham continues to peddle lies about how his campaign is funded both in TV ads and on the stump,” said NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton. “Whether it’s breaking a no-tax-increase-pledgeand raising taxes by $1 billion, claiming he wants to lower college tuition but voting multiple times to raise it or saying everyone needs to pay their fair share in taxes only to abuse $40,000 worth of tax credits to make lavish renovations on his home, Cal Cunningham has proven to be a hypocrite time and time again, and North Carolinians can’t trust him.”
