Whatley Blasts WRAL For Airing "Mostly False” Cal Cunningham Ad

RALEIGH, NC-- Today, Cal Cunningham released another ad peddling the lie that he does not accept corporate PAC money. The ad’s false claim was already debunked by WRAL’s PolitiFact nine months ago and comes after WRAL took down an ad from the National Republican Senatorial Committee that truthfully highlighted Cunningham’s Paycheck Protection Program hypocrisy and that he financially benefited from the PPP. 

In response, NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley issued the following statement: 

“The fact that WRAL will air an ad from Cal Cunningham that their own station rated ‘mostly false,’ while refusing to run a true ad from a Republican organization is a breathtaking double standard. North Carolina voters deserve better from both Cunningham and the press. WRAL should take down Cunningham’s false ad immediately.
