Two Weeks After Cunningham’s “Cringeworthy” Press Conference, He’s Still In Hiding

RALEIGH, NC --  Following Cal Cunningham’s “cringeworthy” press conference two weeks ago where he refused to answer questions about a reported second mistress four separate times, Cunningham has essentially disappeared. He has been hiding from North Carolinians and refusing to take reporter questions about being under investigation by the U.S. Army and his potential court-martial. 

“It’s officially been two weeks since Cal Cunningham’s ‘disastrous’ press conference and he has participated in zero interviews, answered zero questions and has hidden behind generic pre-written statements that make no mention of his misconduct,” said NCGOP Press Secretary Tim Wigginton. “Cunningham’s refusal to be transparent with North Carolinians demonstrates that he is a hypocrite who will never take responsibility for his actions. His handling of this scandal is worse than the misconduct itself and North Carolinians cannot trust him in the Senate.”

Here are just a few of the questions Cunningham is probably ignoring:

• When will Cunningham’s next media availability be? 

• Is Cunningham still residing in his Raleigh home? 

• Do you believe the people have the right to know whether or not their next U.S. Senator could be occupied by a court-martial?

• How many extramarital affairs has Cunningham been engaged in? Why has Cunningham not denied the reports that he had an affair with a second woman, as claimed by an attorney who worked on Cunningham’s 2010 U.S. Senate campaign? 

• Did Cunningham ever prosecute adultery cases as a JAG officer?
