Raleigh, NC--- As many North Carolinians file their taxes today, they are reminded that they would have to fork over more of their hard earned dollars if Cal Cunningham was in the Senate.

“While North Carolinians are paying less today thanks to the leadership of Senator Tillis, Cal Cunningham wants to reverse all of our progress and raise taxes, just like he did during the 2001 recession,” said NCGOP spokesman Tim Wigginton. “North Carolinians cannot afford Cal Cunningham and his job-killing policies in the Senate.”

We know that Cunningham would raise taxes because that is how he handled the last recession he was in charge of. In 2001, Cunningham voted to raise taxes as a member of the North Carolina state Senate. Now, Cunningham wants to repeal the 2017 tax cuts, which put money back into the pockets of hardworking North Carolinians and made the United States the most competitive economy in the world. He also supports Joe Biden, who has a plan to raise taxes on every income bracket

As Speaker, Tillis led the effort to pass a comprehensive tax reform package that cut taxes for all North Carolinians and the 2017 federal tax cuts that he voted for cut taxes for most Americans as well.
