Just Like With Radical Ross, Emily’s List Sabotages Beasley’s Campaign Early

For Immediate Release

Raleigh, NC - Today, the Democrat dark money group Emily’s List sabotaged former Chief Justice Cheri Beasley’s campaign for the U.S. Senate. This week, the National Journal reported that Democrats were already comparing Beasley’s judicial record to failed U.S. Senate candidate Deborah Ross’s radical record. During the 2016 race, Rossleaned heavily on her Emily’s List endorsement to shore up support from the establishment, and it looks like Beasley is trying to do the same.

While racing to the left on the abortion issue is necessary to secure the Democrat nomination for U.S. Senate, North Carolina voters have much more moderate views on the abortion question. Which is one of the reasons why Emily’s List endorsed candidates went on to lose the general election in 2010, 2014, and 2016

“With uber-liberal dark money Washington-based groups trying to clear the field for Beasley, the path for Republicans to win the general elections becomes easier,” said NCGOP Communications Director Tim Wigginton. “The extreme pro-abortion group’s early endorsement of Beasley is the clearest sign yet that Republicans need to simply dust off their playbook from 2016 to defeat Beasley just like we defeated Deborah Ross.”

Emily’s List’s decision to endorse Beasley over former state senator Erica Smith will likely generate substantial backlash as it did during 2020, especially since Emily’s List refused to help Smith as the DSCC and other dark money liberal groups carried fatally flawed Cal Cunningham to victory in the primary.

Bottom Line: Emily’s List candidates have lost every race this decade and their endorsement of Beasley will only harm her chances of winning in November.
