ICYMI: NCGOP corrects the record on Cooper "Withdrawing" from Veepstakes

Gov. Roy Cooper said he "didn't want to be considered" for the Vice Presidential slot under Kamala Harris.

That, of course, came after his own team stoked speculation and his "close relationship" with her for two weeks, put him on MSDNC's "Morning Joe" and even the cringe "White Dudes for Harris" Zoom.

If you believe the Cooper Administration stenographers in the North Carolina press, it was because Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson becomes the Acting Governor in the state whenever he leaves.

This, of course, ignores the fact that Cooper doesn't even bother telling Robinson when he leaves the state.

It also makes no sense when Cooper led the DGA in 2022 and traveled across the country holding high-dollar fundraisers with liberal billionaires (remember his reelection kick off in NYC? We do).

No, Cooper's decision is based on two things: 1) Recognizing that Kamala's high water mark has already happened and she can't win, or 2) He doesn't want the scrutiny from national reporters he's failed to receive in four decades as North Carolina's foremost career politician.

As NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer said to ABC 11"Gov. Cooper's record of vetoing pay raises for teachers and law enforcement is only the tipping point of national scrutiny he appears unwilling to go under, or he has already decided he wants no part of sharing a losing ticket with Kamala Harris. Either way, it's not a good sign when Democrats have spent millions in North Carolina only to see President Trump continue to lead in the Tar Heel State. As last week's incredible rally in Charlotte showed, North Carolina is eager to deliver for him a third time in November."
