NCGOP Announces Republican Nominee for NC House District 117

RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina Republican Party today announced Chelsea Walsh as the Republican nominee to fill the ballot vacancy in North Carolina House District 117.

The vacancy was created after current State Representative Jennifer Balkcom was selected as the Republican nominee for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District. Balkcom has represented House District 117 since first being elected in 2022.

“Chelsea Walsh is ready to hit the ground running and continue the strong conservative leadership the people of House District 117 deserve,” said NCGOP Chairman Jason Simmons. “This is an important seat, and we are confident voters will have a strong Republican choice in November who will fight for Western North Carolina families.”

“House District 117 deserves a representative who will stand up for its families, communities, and conservative values,” said House Speaker Destin Hall. "Chelsea Walsh is prepared to step up and continue the work Republicans have done to make North Carolina a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The NCGOP looks forward to working with Chelsea and Republican leaders across House District 117 to ensure voters have a strong conservative representing them on the ballot this November.
