For Immediate Release

Raleigh NC - The NCGOP continued our roundtable series with a giant roundtable in Hendersonville, NC. We brought together state and local elected officials and small business owners to discuss the real-world impact of Cooper’s lockdown and unworkable school reopening plan. Governor Cooper continues to hide out in his bunker refusing to listen to the North Carolinian families and small businesses suffering under his draconian edicts.  These roundtable discussions provide a platform for local business owners and leaders to discuss the severe consequences of Cooper's unilateral orders on area small businesses and families.

Here are some quotes from the participants:

“North Carolina is a great state. I hope Cooper manages to can get out and see it.”
- NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley

“The inequities across the State created by Cooper’s lockdowns need to be with data driven strategies instead of a fear based mentality. We need the Governor’s mansion to stop managing my fear, and give us the authority to take care of our people.”
- Jennifer Hensley, Hendersonville City Council Woman

“Governor’s Cooper’s [School Reopening] Plan B was designed to fail in a manner that allowed him to avoid taking responsibility.”
- Amy Holt, Henderson County School Board

All the counties in the state are unique and have their own needs and requirements and need to have the flexibility to take care of those needs.”
- Rebecca McCall, Henderson County Commissioner

“Governor Cooper continues to fail to provide a plan that allows for adequate testing, and he specifically fails in that he still does not have a plan to regularly test nursing homes who are the most vulnerable to COVID-19.”
- State Senator Chuck Edwards District 48

“My frustration with the Cooper administration is that it keeps moving the goalposts. They sign they’ll do one thing and they do another thing. Businesses need a reliable plan, but the Cooper administration keeps changing the plan.”
- State Representative Chuck McGrady District 117

“Businesses rely on certainty, and the inconsistent actions coming out of the Governor’s mansion continue to cause turmoil in the small business community across our State. Speaking with small business owners, they have lost faith in the institutions of government in our State, and we need to remedy that in a decisive way this November 3rd.”
- Tim Moffitt, Candidate for House District 117
