NCGOP Statement on SCOTUS Congressional Map Ruling

NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley released the following statement in response to today’s order by the U.S. Supreme Court on the NC congressional map: 

“We are disappointed that the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the appeal filed by the NC Legislature citing electoral time constraints.  As four of the Justices point out: the NC Courts have taken it upon themselves to draw Congressional maps in violation of the Constitution which raises very serious issues we hope will be addressed by the Supreme Court in the future.” 

The NCGOP will continue to fight for a redistricting process conducted by the Legislature as required by the Constitution. We look forward to the November elections to elect Republicans up and down the ballot, especially conservative judges.
