Is Cal Jr. Already Trapped In Schumer’s Windowless Basement?

February 5, 2021
For Immediate Release

Raleigh, NC - Following in  Cal Sr.’s footsteps, Cal Jr. announced his candidacy with a polished video utilizing the tired DC consultant tactic of claiming to “listen” instead of stating actual policy positions. After announcing his candidacy, Cal Jr. went on Tim Boyum’s Capital Tonight and embarrassed himself (where have we seen this before?)

Normally when candidates announce their campaign for statewide office, they follow it up with a media blitz. With the shift to more Zoom interviews because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is easier than ever for candidates to do interviews with local media outlets. However, since tanking on Capital Tonight Jackson has not tweeted any other interviews and nobody else has shared any TV interviews besides the Capital Tonight debacle.

“Cal Jr. promised to run a transparent campaign, so why is he avoiding TV interviews with NC media outlets? It appears that just like Cal Sr., Cal Jr. has already been confined to Chuck Schumer’s windowless basement after a disastrous rollout and first interview as a candidate,” said NCGOP Communications Director Tim Wigginton. “Cal Jr. cannot shake the ghost of Cal Sr. as long as he continues to follow the Cunningham-Schumer windowless basement playbook.”

The Democrat primary for US Senate is haunted by the the shadow of Cal Cunningham Sr. and North Carolina Democrats are already bracing for a messy primary one week after Cal Jr. announced his candidacy. Given the messy rollout, it seems that Cal Jr. has already been whisked away to the windowless basement just like Cal Sr.
