RALEIGH, NC -- NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley announced today that Philip Thomas has been hired and began work as the new Political Director and Chief Counsel for the North Carolina Republican Party.
"Philip Thomas brings considerable experience and a tireless work ethic to the North Carolina Republican Party," said State Party Chairman Michael Whatley. "During this time of unprecedented uncertainty, he has already been instrumental in facilitating the needed changes to ensure we can host our County, District, and State conventions."
Philip comes to the Party after working as the Deputy General Counsel for the NC Department of Public Instruction. He has previous experience in every branch of state government - including, working with Lt. Governor Dan Forest's general counsel, the NC State House, the NC State Senate, the NC Court of Appeals, and several administrative agencies. Philip also has campaign experience, having worked with several state and congressional campaigns as well as Americans for Prosperity. Philip originally hails from Guilford County and is a graduate of UNC Charlotte and Campbell University School of Law.
"I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity to work with the Party and our conservative leaders across the state,” Philip Thomas stated. “We are in the midst of one of the most crucial elections in recent history, so we need all hands on deck. To that end, I look forward to working with the NCGOP's exceptionally talented staff and under the strong leadership of Chairman Whatley."
